Smith College Covid-19 Policies

Visitor guidelines

To summarize:

  • Visitors to campus need to be vaccinated in order to attend the Data Science Symposium and Workshop.
  • If you are not feeling well or are experiencing symptoms of illness, please do not come to campus.
  • College policies mandate masking in indoor spaces, except when eating. (Masks are not required outdoors on campus.)

Computer Accounts (workshop only, not for symposium)

You have received (or will shortly) log-in credentials to servers at Hampshire College. Please check to be sure you can log-in, and keep track of your user id and password. Returning workshop participants can use the same log-in credentials they received last year; if you have lost them, please contact Josiah Erickson at mailto:wjens@hampshire.edu

Some sample files to use to test the setup have been posted on the facdev channel on Slack (see below).

You might want to bookmark these links to make your navigation easier during the workshop.

Getting to campus

Parking

Since we will be in Neilson Library, Room 102 it will be best to park in the lot off of Green Street (at F6 on the printable map). The parking garage is a very good bet for finding a space if the Green Street lot is full.

If you park in a space with a parking meter (on the street) you are parking on a city street and the parking permit will not keep you from getting a ticket.

Please print the parking permit attached to the email, fill in your personal details, and display the permit on your dashboard while you are parked on Smith’s campus.

Food & Drink

Coffee, fruit and pastries will be served before the symposium begins.

Lunch will be held in the Conference Center’s Paradise Room. Please notify Andrea Dustin if you have dietary restrictions and need a special lunch.

What to bring

  • Laptop and charger
  • Mask
  • Log-in credentials for RStudio and JupyterHub (see below)

  • Something to write on and a pen or pencil
  • Parking permit for your car dashboard
